MGFA Northeast Ohio Area Support Groups
Menlo Park Academy is hosting the MG Experience for 350 of its students the second week of September just before our walk. Watch this space for more information.
The MG Experience was utilized by several participants at the MG Ohio Walk Mill Stream Run Reservation on September 14, 2019.
The MG Experience provides a fun learning activity in which the participant is given a train ticket on a keepsake lanyard. The ticket is stamped at each station along the way. Fun activities at the stations include stacking cups with hand weights, stepping up on a stool with leg weights, walking against a resistance band, and looking through special glasses to read doubled copy that simulates what it is like for someone with weak eye muscles. There is also a breathing challenge, a chewing challenge as well as a fun game of catch where the ball, which represents acetylcholine (Ach), is passed between the nerve glove and muscle glove and then the game is played with gloves that contain (Ach) blockers to demonstrate that it is harder to achieve the nerve/muscle connection.
